After Congress now it’s Biju Janata Dal (BJD)’s take on Gandhi killing.

Two days after Supreme court asked Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi  either to apologize or to face trial for his remarks accusing that the RSS was responsible for Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination, senior BJD leader Surendra Nath Naik accused Bharatiya Janata party(BJP) of the killing of the father of Nation.

On 20th July during a mini-marathon organized by BJD at Ranpur (Odisha) to mark late Biju Patnaik’s birth centenary year, former minister Sri Naik joined as a guest. Local MLA Rabi Narayan Mohapatra, Law and Panchayati Raj minister Arun Kumar  Sahoo, Khandapara MLA Anubhav Pattnaik and Daspalla MLA Purna Chandra Naik also joined him to encourage participants, mostly party members.

Local BJP activists opposed the celebration and tried to show black flags to Minister Sri Sahoo. However, police captured them prior to the event.

In response to BJP’s protest Surendra Nath Naik told media,

I don’t want to talk about them. But who are these BJP people? They are Gandhi-killers.

In response to Sri Naik’s remarks, state BJP spokesperson Sajjan Sharma told Odisha Story,

It’s unfortunate; a senior leader like Sura babu has given such cheap and baseless remarks. In this context, he seems to be the Chela of Rahul Gandhi. Sura Babu came to politics from the Socialist movement. Founder of the socialist movement in India, Dr. Lohia fought throughout his life against the monopoly of congress. I think, so called socialists like Sura Babu are now switching over to Rahul Gandhi as their idol.
