By Odisha Story Bureau, Bhubaneswar:

Monsoon plays spoilsport for Bhubaneswar Raahgiri. Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to suspend the weekly celebration for two months owing to the shower. The event is set to resume from Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October.

Housing and urban development minister Pushpendra Singhdeo said,

Though Raahgiri has been a big hit with youngsters, it has been put on hold for two months as many events can’t be organized in the rain.

Having started on 17th January 2016, the event completed 27 weeks on June 17. The last edition focused on the origin of Rasagola, Odisha’s on sweet meat.

BMC mayor Anant Narayan Jena said,

Events such as painting, health camps and yoga sessions were affected due to rain. BMC will revive the event again from Gandhi Jayanti. Since the objective of the event is to promote non-motorized transport, we will keep on holding the event till we achieve it.
