Veteran Odia film director, actor, producer Gobind Tej left for his heavenly abode today morning at his Bhubaneswar residence. He was conferred Prestigious Jayadev Award in 1986. Govind Tej was also conferred with ETV odia Lifetime Award for Film in 2012.
He was 87 years old.
Tej started his film career as an actor with Kedar Gouri in 1954. In 1958 he acted in MAA with a small role. Since then he had starred in films such as Krushna Sudama(1976), Bandhu Mohanty(1977), Nagaphasa(1977), Gouri(1979), Bhakta salabega(1983), Raghu Arakhita(1997) and Jayadeba(1987).
Gobind Tej started producing films under his production banner named New life production in the mid 1970s (krusna sudama).
In a career that spread over 50 years, he had contributed to many Odia feature films either as an actor, producer or director, thus becoming one of the most prolific film-makers of Odisha. He directed film like Ramayana(1980), kaveri(1983), Tunda Baida(1987), School Master(1985), jai Sriram(1999) and Gare Sindoora Dhare Luha(2002).
The ace director, actor, producer was born on 5th November 1929.
His absence is a great loss to the domain of Odia film. His suffen demise will cause a void not likely to be filled in near future. Several actors, directors, producers, politicians, authors and journalists condoled the demise of Gobind Tej.
