Disrespecting National Anthem: BJD Members Apologise

By Odisha Story Bureau, Bhubaneswar:

Today, ruling BJD MLAs Samir Ranjan Dash and Byamakesh Ray have tendered apology for Ray’s misconduct inside the state legislative assembly earlier yesterday.

While BJD spokesman Samir Ranjan Dash had apologised outside the house for Ray’s conduct, inside the house Ray regretted over his conduct during recital of the national anthem in Assembly yesterday.

Ray said,

I regret for raising slogan during recital of the national anthem. It has been done out of emotion in the Mahanadi and Polavaram issues. My conduct was not intended to disrespect the national anthem. I have maximum respect for the anthem.

Yesterday, on the first day of Monsoon session in Odisha assembly while members of the House including CM, Speaker and Opposition Leaders were standing in respect to the national anthem, Ray was found shouting slogan opposing Chhattisgarh government’s construction of projects on upstream of river Mahanadi.
