By Odisha Story Bureau, Bhubaneswar:
All Orissa Bus Owners’ Association (AOBOA) on Sunday decided to launch a 24-hour bus strike in the state from 6 am on September 29 to 6 am on the next day protesting arrest of owner of the bus, which met with an accident near Athamallik on September 9 in Angul district killing 19 people.
The association took this decision in a state-level meeting held here on Sunday. It passed a resolution in the meeting condemning the arrest of bus owner Rishabh Kumar Tripathi.
Association general secretary Debendra Sahu said they will meet director general of police and ministers of the government on Monday to urge them for withdrawal of case against the bus owner within October 6. If the government doesn’t do so, bus strike will continue in the state for indefinite period from October 7, he added.
As a mark of protest, Sahu said, all the private buses plying across the state will bear black flag and bus employees will wear black badges.
