The unputdownable Chief Minister of Odisha Sri Naveen Patnaik was bestowed upon prestigious IDEAL CHIEF MINISTER AWARD on 21st January 2018 during the 8th Indian Student Parliament at Pune. For his outstanding commitment, courage and conviction coupled with revolutionary ideas of clean governance aimed at making Odisha an ideal state, he was conferred with the award, said the organizing committee.

Bharatiya Chatra Sansad Foundation in association with Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, UNESCO Chair of Humanity and MIT School of Government was organizing the event at the campus of MIT World Peace University in Pune.

From raising the state profile to a preferred investment destination to fighting off cyclone, Phailin and other natural odds Naveen Patnaik has established himself as Odisha’s man for all seasons. His attempts to bring in transparency in system and his massive drive against corruption in high places, without any discrimination, have given him the epithet of MR CLEAN for his performance on the development front.

Naveen Patnaik has always prioritised the development of Odisha and welfare of his people over politics. As a committed and celebrated apostle of Indian Parliamentary Democracy, he is advancing the rich legacy left by King Kharabela and his illustrious father late Biju Patnaik. He is regarded as an honest, clean and credible chief minister even by many of his opponents. He is known for delivering on his promises of economic growth and innovative schemes, he launched for the masses.

Dalai Lama too admired Naveen Patnaik during his recent Odisha visit.

Admiring Naveen’s governance Union Finance Minister Arun Jailtly said, ‘The number of people bellow poverty line in Odisha almost reduced by half in last two decades.’

As Sri Naveen Patnaik received the Ideal Chief Minister award, it brings both pride and pleasure for the state. On 21st January CM was conferred with the award by former President of India Smt Pratibha Devi Singh Patil. Eminent educationist Vishwanath D Karad, eminent journalist Mark Tully, Mahatma Gandhi Foundation president Tushar Gandhi and former CEC of India TN Seshan are among the jury members to nominate Sri Naveen Patnaik for this prestigious accolade.

In 2017 The chief minister, who was adjudged the ” best administrator” of the country by Outlook magazine, dedicated the award to the “four and a half crore” people of Odisha who have reposed faith in his government for the last 17 years.

In his speech Naveen said, “All the negative associates of politics – power, wealth and position dissolve into nothingness, if you love the people . I am single, with a loving family of four and half crore people.”
