Men’s Hockey World Cup: Stars Dazzle Opening Show

Bhubaneswar: The Hockey World Cup kick-started with a grand opening ceremony at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar. Shah Rukh Khan narrated his iconic 17 minute dialogue from Chak De! India and Madhuri Dixit carried out a magical performance. India’s music sensation AR Rahman sung hit songs such as Dil Se, Humma Humma, Maa Tujhe Salaam among others.

Here, have a look on what’s happening last evening chronologically.

Before the show, Indian Hockey veterans made it to the stage who have won the only one Hockey World Cup in 1975.

The biggest drone show was another attraction at the opening ceremony. A beautiful light show was also being carried out at kalinga Stadium simultaneously!

The president of FIH, Narinder Batra gave his good wishes to all the teams in the Hockey World Cup. Yesterday’s evening started with Odisha CM Naveen patnaik’s welcome speech. He declared the Hockey World Cup open.

Host Gaurav Kapur invited all 16 captains to the stage as the crowd gave them a big cheer. Then Shah Rukh Khan made an majestic entry and narrated the famous Chak De dialogue for 17 minutes.

Madhuri Dixit made a very colourful entry on to the stage at the Kalinga Stadium as she emerged from the ground out of a lotus set. The Bollywood legend dances as artists form mesmerising formations. She performed for about 40 minutes with three different costumes.

And around 7.30 PM in the evening, here came the music maestro AR Rahaman on stage at Kalinga Stadium. Rahman fired up the stage by singing Dil Se and playing the piano. Few minutes later, he stood up and sings the hit song Humma Humma. Then he moved to Maa Tujhe Salaam before the Oscar-winning song Jai Ho.

Rahman has composed the beautiful theme song of Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018 “Jai Hind India”. Gulzar has penned down the lyrics for the anthem.
