Senior Journalist Loses Job for Facebook Post

Bhubaneswar: A senior journalist was fired by his employer for social media posts against the state government here today.

Debendra Prusty, who was working as the News Editor for a reputed daily has been shown the door by the media house for allegedly writing a series of post citing flaws in Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018.

Today afternoon Prusty wrote in a Facebook post,

A Facebook comment has cost me my job. Long live Freedom of Expression and Freedom of Press.

He told to Odisha Story that he has posted in Facebook regarding the huge payment made to Bollywood celebrities. He criticised the state government and Hockey India for wasting public money. As a result he had to lose the job, said grieved Prusty.

He further said that he had no enmity with the state government. He used to criticise both state and central government whenever he finds any flaws. He appreciate the government for good works too.

Going with truth is more difficult here, he said.
