BJP Delegates Meet Odisha EC Over Booth Rigging Issue

Bhubaneswar: Zilla Parisad by-election was held today in zone no. 32 of Mayurbhanj district. BJP accused that BJD captured at least 10 booths out of 82 in that zone.

A BJP delegation headed by party state vice president Samir Mohanty called on state election commission of Odisha today afternoon. In a written complaint BJP demanded to hold elections again in 10 booths of the zone.

Samir Mohanty said,

BJD lost its ground during last Zilla Parisad by-election. To avoid repetition of the past situation, BJD has deputed 10 MLAs and 6 ministers in 32 no. zone of Mayurbhanj. Even after that they were not sure about their victory. To avoid chances of losing the  seat they captured 10 booths. EC should hold elections again at these 10 booths.

In the compliant BJP alleged that at booth number 1 BJD goons have abducted BJP agent. In booth number 12, 13, 14 and 15 BJD men went inside the poling booth to ensure votes in their account.

Mohanty said,

Election Commission is also working as puppet in state government’s hands. Today he told us that he spoke to the Mayurbhanj Collector and found no irregularities in election process. He is advocating for the ruling party. In protest we staged a dharna before EC office.

BJP state secretary Kalandi Samal, former minister Surama Padhi, BJYM national vice president Thakur Ranjit Dash, BJYM state president Tankadhar Tripathy and state executive member Pratap Mishra accompanied Mohanty during the meeting with EC.
