HWC 2018 Final: Belgium Beats Netherlands

Bhubaneswar: This is the first time Belgium entered the World Cup and became the winner of Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018 in the final match at Kalinga Stadium against Netherlands here today.

Netherlands had won Hockey world cup three times before in the years 1973, 1990 and 1998.

The match was tough and was raising goosebumps among the spectators. Till the hooter rang both the teams were on 0-0. Thus penalty shoot outs were held.

Netherlands first was leading in the shoot out, but Belgium finally came as a winner.

The Award for

  2. Hockey India Best Junior Player of the Event- Thijs Van Dam (Ned)
  3. Odisha Mining Corporation Best Goal Keeper of the event- Primin Blaaka (Ned)
  4. Hero Top Scorer of the Event- Alexander Hendrikx and Blake Govers
  5. Odisha Best Player of the Event- Arthur Van Doren (Bel)

The third position was taken away by the Ausies who beat the England by 8-1.
