New York: Today, that is December 18, 2018 is observed as International Migrants Day by the United Nations Organization in accordance with the Resolution 55/93 of the United Nations General Assembly, adopted on 4 December 2000. On 18th December 1990, the General Assembly had adopted a resolution on on the International Convention on the Protection of Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families.
Since the year 2000, the International Community has used 18 December, to highlight the Human Rights of Migrants.
In 2018, close to 3,400 migrants and refugees already have lost their lives world wide. That is why Migration with Dignity is the theme of 2018’s International Migrants Day, says UN.
