Bhubaneswar: Cyclone Pethai hit at Katrenikona coast of East Godavari in Adhra Pradesh with a seed of 85-90 kmph at 12:30 pm, and now its moving in northeast direction towards Odisha. Though debilitated, it might effect through heavy rainfall. The Rayagada, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Ganjam districts will be the most effected areas. It is likely that the cyclone will develop into a deep depression.
The prediction from IMD resulted into shifting of more than 11,000 people to safety places by the Odisha Government. No reports of casualty from the State.
In Adhra Pradesh, there has been reports of uprooting of trees and electric poles from the effected areas along with a death of a person. It also damaged crops.
