Odisha and Ch’garh’s Meeting on Mahanadi Water Dispute Remains Inconclusive

Bhuabneswar: The decision on sharing of Mahanadi river water was to be taken between the Odisha and Chhattisgarh governments yesterday in a meeting, but no conclusions could be drawn out of this meeting.

Officials from both Odisha and Chhattisgarh remained tight-lipped on the outcome of the meeting.

The Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal on 9th February had directed the Odisha and Chhattisgarh to sort out their water sharing dispute amicably and posted it for 9th March.

The Odisha government demanded the release of 1.74 million acre-feet of water by Chhattisgarh during the non-monsoon season though an interim petition.

Another meeting which was held on 25th February was also inconclusive.
