Koraput: District administration rescued 26 migrant labourers of Koraput district, who were held captive in Tamil Nadu. A police team led by SDPO Sagarika Nath along with officials from Koraput Labour department rescued the stranded labourers from Chennai.

Police said, a middleman allegedly lured these labourers from Kundra block of Koraput district on the pretext of engaging them in work in Chennai at a minimum wage of Rs 700 per day. Later they came to know that the middleman sold them off to a contractor.

The owner then started torturing them through various means and barred all of them from talking to the families in Odisha. He did not even allow them to leave and kept on harassing.
