Bhubaneswar: People in Anandapur block kept the local Dharakote market closed for second day in a row on today in demand for quick action against the murderers of Former Ghasipura Legislative Assembly Independent candidate Ramchandra Behera.
Behera was hacked to death in cold blood on late Monday (25 March) night. He would have get a Congress ticket for Ghasipura assembly constituency for the ensuing elections. He was also the former Chairman of Anandpur block.
Odisha Congress chief Niranjan Patnaik and senior Congress leader Jaydev Jena visited Behera’s family on Tuesday night and conveyed their condolences.
The mureders had reportedly called Behera from his Dharakote residence and then attacked him with sharp weapons. They hacked both of his hands and left him in bloodied condition.
