Odisha Elections: Over 63,000 Persons Detained

Bhubaneswar: More than 63, 000 persons have been detained across Odisha till Sunday to ensure free and fair polls in the ongoing general elections in the state.

According to sources, police have detained 63,340 persons under Section 106/116 of IPC from different places across the state to ensure smooth conduct of polls in Odisha.

Similarly, a total of 248 arms and weapons and 1457 kilograms of explosives were seized jointly by excise and police officials.

Besides, 146154.318 litres of spurious liquor with an estimated worth over Rs 3 crores have also been seized during the various raid in April.

The flying squad officials have also removed over 41 lakh political posters from different places abiding the Model Code of Conduct.
