Former Finance Minister Arun Jaitley In Critical Condition

New Delhi: Former finance minister and veteran BJP leader Arun Jaitley, currently admitted in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-Delhi, is reportedly in a critical condition. He was admitted to the hospital on August 9.
Jaitley was admitted on August 9 morning and was put on ventilator late in the night. He has since been undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU). According to a release by media and protocol division of AIIMS on the same day, the former minister is under the supervision of a team comprising multidisciplinary doctors: “At present he is haemodynamically stable”.
Jaitley had a kidney transplant on May 14 last year, and had left for a “regular medical check-up” in the United States in January this year. He was also admitted to AIIMS for treatment earlier Union Budget in May 2019.
Incumbent Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal filled in for him at that time and even presented the Interim in February 2019.
Jaitley did not contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. After the Narendra Modi-led BJP government came to power in May 2019, Jaitley, in a letter to PM Modi, had said that he would like to stay away from “any responsibility” on account of his ill health.
