NIT Rourkela Professor, Wife Found Dead Inside House, Note Recovered

Rourkela: In a tragic incident, a Professor of NIT Rourkela and his wife were found dead inside their residential quarters in the premises of the renowned institute on Saturday morning.
The deceased have been identified as R. Jayabalan (38), an assistant professor in the Life Sciences Department and his wife Malavi Kesavan. They had tied the knot nine years ago.

According to sources, their officials quarters had been locked for two days. Their neighbours suspected something fishy and informed the authorities. On intimation, police reached the spot, broke into the house and recovered the bodies.

A four-page suicide note has been recovered. It is suspected that the duo consumed poison and killed themselves. “Security in-charge and Registrar informed us about the incident this morning. It is premature to comment on the matter. Further probe into the matter is on,” said a police officer.
