Bhubaneswar: At least 7,258 students will get scholarship under Kalia Chhatra Brutti Yojana to purse professional course in Government-run colleges across the State, informed Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo .
Of the 19247 students applied for KALIA Scholarship, 7,258 applicants have been selected, added Arun Sahoo.
Students of at least 187 colleges had applied for the scholarship to purse higher studies.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced scholarship scheme in February this year for students – Kalia Chhatra Brutti – to help the children of Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) beneficiaries take up professional courses.
Under the scheme, the State Government will bear the educational expenses of the children chosen to enter Government professional colleges on the basis of merit.
