Speeding Truck Kills Two Elephants & Injures Another In Odisha

Keonjhar: It was a heart-wrenching sight as the carcass of two elephant lay amid a pool of blood hours after it was mowed down by a speeding truck near Balijodi under Ghatagaon Forest Range in Keonjhar district last night.
According to sources, a herd of 10 elephants were crossing the road late last night, when a speeding truck hit them. While two pachyderms, including a calf died on the spot and another female elephant was critically injured.
After hitting the elephants, the truck lost control and skidded off the road. However, the driver reportedly fled the spot after the mishap. Spotting the carcasses, locals called up forest officials,who reached the spot this morning and began an inquiry.
