Ashok Parija Takes Charge As New Advocate General

Bhubaneswar:Ashok Parija has been appointed as new advocate general in Cuttack. He took over the role from former AG Surya Prasad Mishra.
He said, “The office is already functioning very efficiently. I don’t know if I deserve this post but the Chief Minister has entrusted me with a very important responsibility. I will try to fulfill the duties to the best of my abilities”.
“I am a lawyer first. I will consult my team of law officers, hold discussions and work accordingly. This office will function like a family,” he added.
Parija was born in 1961.He was enrolled as an advocate in the Bar Council of Odisha at the age of 23 and started his practice under former Advocate General Bijoy Mahanti.
Parija was elected as a member to the State Bar Council in March 2008. The same year in August, he became member of Bar Council of India. He was elected as Chairman of Bar Council of India in July 2011.
