Sonia, Rahul And Other MPs Protest Outside Parliament

New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi and Sonia held a protest in Parliament complex on Thursday after the party lost most of the lawmakers of Goa and Karnataka to the ruling party BJP.
Congress lawmakers protested near the Gandhi statue in the Parliament complex. They shouted slogans, holding up placards of “Save Democracy”, accusing the BJP of “killing democracy” by luring away opposition lawmakers in various states.
The Congress is left with only five lawmakers as 10 of 15 split from party of Goa and merged with the ruling BJP.
The Congress-JD (S) coalition government is fighting for survival in Karnataka after 18 exits. If the resignations are accepted – the speaker has rejected many of them as invalid – the balance will shift from the Congress-JDS to the BJP, which had last year fallen just short of the majority mark.
The Congress leadership has blamed the ruling BJP for the desertions from its rank in both the states.
